I'm having the best day. I surprised my daughter, who turns 16 today, when she woke up and found me in her living room. I arrived last night when she was sleeping. She lives in Ohio and I live in She-attle, of course. Anyway, I gave her a long warm hug and it was just great.
THEN her mom suggested that she drive us to the store to get eggs. Her mom and step-dad both said she's been driving pretty good and this was going to be the first time I'd ever experienced her driving. And away we went. I couldn't believe it. My offspring. My only daughter was driving me in a motor vehicle across town!. Crazy. She did really well too. I kept my mouth shut, except to compliment her on this or that maneuver or whatever and I only made two gentle suggestions. She'd been telling me that her mom and step-dad have been grabbing the wheel occassionally and her mom has been making her nervous, so I was trying not to do the same. I wanted her to remain calm and confident or at least develop confidence by relying on her own skills. And she did great.
NOW, she's making me breakfast!

I'm a very happy father today!

Crazy. This world is just crazy and so am I. But it, or we, have our moments.
