Damn. One of the saddest sounds to me is hearing an animal in pain. I just turned on PBS and they're covering some of the household pets and zoo animals that suffered through Hurricane Katrina. POOR THINGS!!! ugh!

Did you know that it's actually therapeutic for zoo animals to have people to look at? I didn't. Some zoo keepers asked National Guardsmen to wander through the zoo during the Guards off time and the animals started to bounce back due to their people watching. I just think that's cool. I used to think animals were probably irritated by all of the attention, when in fact they like people watching. Well, I suppose some do and some don't.

But, my goodness. It was heartbreaking to see some household pets, dogs to be specific, starved, lying on their sides without any strength or aid, developing sores because of their immobility, etc., etc. ugh! Abandoned until their owners were able to sneak back to them or were allowed to return to them. So fucking sad.

Kiss your pets for me. I don't have any of my own. But some day I sure hope to be able to have some.
