so for those of you who had a sucky 4th: there was a Venus Jupiter Opposition in the sky today. Venus is the planet of harmony, and Jupiter the planet of Joy and sharing. When two planets are put into opposition they sort of cancel each other out. at first they may seem to enhance each other - so the day may have started out 'perfect' and happy, but the slightest misstep and they become enemies - and then you get nothing but bad luck and disharmony. This dynamic will continue through the weekend. It's not that unusual an event - it's bound to happen at least once a year, but it comes into greater focus when it lands on a holiday...

in other news, my little astrology class is going well - there are now ten people in it! we are looking at planetary order in the natal chart - which is a technique designed to transform vicious circles into evolving spirals. the technique is too long to spell out here, but it's not that complicated - it just has to do with recognizing the sequence of planets in your natal chart and cooperating with that sequence.

the Tao class is going well, as is the Euclid/Plato class. The Katha Upanishad class is still struggling, as we are dealing with some of the more boring verses. That should change in about two weeks when we start Book II.

I have a visitor from Romania who is helping scan a ton of photographs from the 1930's to 50's into my computer. These are images of the mystics and sages and just weird street people of Asia taken by Paul Brunton during his travels at that time. It's nice to get these onto the computer - next they might get onto the internet! we still have a lot of images that we have no clue about, but in the main, these images of a bygone era are quite wonderful.
