so for those of you who had a sucky 4th: there was a Venus Jupiter Opposition in the sky today. Venus is the planet of harmony, and Jupiter the planet of Joy and sharing. When two planets are put into opposition they sort of cancel each other out. at first they may seem to enhance each other - so the day may have started out...

tough week. went to the hospital to watch a man I know breathe his last. was asked to go, even though our relationship was mostly cordial at best... was in the room up to the last 1 hour - left when his son arrived. if you've ever heard that breath, you will never ever forget it, or mortality. not my first passing, but a powerful...

So I continue to be concerned about the situation in Tibet.. the Chinese earthquake is an interesting twist of something or other; I feel it is foolish and arrogant to presume it is a "judgment" or a "blessing in disguise." My mainland Chinese friends do feel that the impact of the earthquake was intensified by the building of that big dam in the area -...

Heh, love your comment.

Hard candy is a good idea. I'll have to invest in some of that this weekend.

I haven't read Vachs! Should I?

So most of the stuff that goes on here is playful, dramatic or promotional -- and occasionally someone posts something substantive. This is one of those posts--though I doubt anyone will read it!

I happen to be connected to the Tibetan community and have had a few rare and extraordinary conversations with His Holiness the Dalai Lama over the course of many, many years.

The...

The situation in Tibet is truly disturbing... frown I agree with you; it shall only get worse after the olypics... I am glad I am not the only one thinking about this... I think the world is falling apart... I am taken that you've been so lucky to speak with the Dalai Lama; that must have been such a moving experience... I feel like the situation over seas is completely out of our hands - there will suely be much more blood shed... the history of China certainly supports this... WOW. An actual "interesting" blog... you need to write more smile XOxo...

thanks, btw, for your comments on my set...

I pray for Tibet frown (for the WORLD.)

I will write; thank you for sharing your contact info... I hope more ppl read this post from you. kiss

Bored with French Cinema -- any recommendations? Also with Chinese cinema lately. Did have to stop watching 13 Tiamant for a while; that certainly wasn't boring, but was a little too close to a bonafide snuff film for my fairly dark tastes...
The Tao class is going well; we're struggling with the grammar of Chapter 3 - a slippery bit of non-specific references that could...

Back lost in Bab5 land for no apparent reason. A bit dizzy this week what with shifting from Ancient Egyptian occultism to the Tao to Plato to Vedanta; running four classes is a lot, but at least they've been well attended in spite of bad weather. Kinda getting tired of samurai romance pix; just saw Hidden Blade which bored the hell out of me...gonna try...

so I'm gonna try to add more blogs here... mostly about movies i guess - just finished re-viewing Kurosawa's Dreams; didn't like it much more this time than the last time I saw it many years ago; like Madadayo so much better. Maybe you have to be Japanese to get it but the anti-war, anti-nuclear message is too heavy handed and the special effects too...

done with Bunuel for now, back to Carne and Children of Paradise; an exceptional film if ever there was and even more so considering when it was made (during the German occupation of France (it's French)). Thinking of changing my class drastically now from Upanishads to Plotinus; my best friend is entering school tomorrow and won't hardly be around for like three months or maybe...

Volver is my favorite Almodovar.

So far I like Between Your Legs, but it would be impossible for me to dislike anything with Javier in it because he brings so much to every role he is in.
oldernow:
Did you finish Between Your Legs? have you seen Belle du Jour? or other Bunuel? I have mixed feelings about Almadovar, half his stuff I like, the other half I could live without. Talk to her and Tie me Up go on the good side of the list...; what else has Javier been in that you like?

am having a Bunel festival here, liking some of his films, but not all of them. so far I like L'age D'or and Belle du Jour and the interview with him on the Viridina DVD but not so much that movie itself. Also some Pasolini; these give me something to talk about with my good friend who's dying of liver&bone cancer, and with his partner,...

this week was really just Wednesday. in the morning tickets for His Holiness the Dalai Lama went on sale at 9 am, and were sold out by 9:23; I bought all I could (4) for myself and a couple of friends - an act that has still got repercussions. spent the afternoon with my book designer who just had a blood transfusion as was full...

whatthehell might as well start here as anywhere: finally got the samovar we ordered direct from the Russian factory! It was shipped in a linen wrapper with 14 wax seals on it which was almost as cool as the samovar itself. now I have to get a step up transformer and we\'ll be in business. Hopefully it will slake the thirst of the Sunday class....

thank you very much for the help! unfortunately, I have to solve them using matrices frown I hate, hate hate hate matrices because I feel like they're pointless. And stupid. When you can solve them the way that you did.

it's okay to feel like a teacher. i need a teacher.

p.s. I'm doing a project of studying the horoscopes of Suicide Girls - if you'd care to share, send me your birthdata (month, day, year) time of birth (if possible) and place of birth. I'll send you a jpeg of your chart, and a few comments. If you want a higher-res image of the chart, send me an email address that I can upload to.
