And so it begins! Survivor Song by Paul Tremblay is hereby my first read of 2025! I am setting my reading goal to 30 books this year as well over at The StoryGraph; that's much less than one book a week, which will not only give me some space to do my usual stuff, like activities on TikTok and Discord, attend various social events and

I’ve used audiobooks to get through physical reads I was struggling with and it makes washing dishes/laundry/commute so much nicer. I’d set a goal of 40 last year and only managed 33 so I’m determined to do better, even if it’s just for my mental health. I kept with 40 this year as well since I fell short last time and had a huge gap over the spring/summer. So far, I’ve finished 10 this month but I’m not holding on to that being a norm. lol.
ojtheviking:
@niffler 10 in a month is pretty damn impressive! I agree that audiobooks are great company while doing other stuff, so I need to get back into doing that more myself. I can relate to those gaps. Happened a few times last year, even though I did reach my goal.

Received this diploma today, for attending a 12-hour mentor course (divided into three 4-hour sessions in as many days), for the organization I've been hanging out with lately.

This organization is for both former addicts and those of us who have been directly affected by addicts, and we can socialize and learn to master life together and gain mutual understanding.

This diploma does not guarantee

Good on you mate, I hope you help at least someone out there
ojtheviking:
@littlejohn22 ThankΒ you, brother. As do I. Been getting some practice through my TikTok streams and just trying to be a supportive human being overall.

Up next! Assuming I enjoy it and finish it, this will officially be the 30th and final book in this year's 30-book challenge, which started on Goodreads but was transferred over to The StoryGraph. Now that's not to say that it will necessarily be the final book of 2024 for me; it'll just be the book that helps me reach my goal, and anything beyond

Good morning, and happy hump day, folks! How's it going here in SG land?

I've been a bit preoccupied lately, but I want to stay somewhat active, so I decided to just post this selfie of me having coffee with my most recent enemy. I also have a bunch of sets and others' posts to catch up with soon. But for now, this mid-week selfie

@amra Starting the morning with you would certainly be a blessing! ❀️ You could always "fake it" and take a photo of one of the cups you usually choose, lol

My next THREE reads! I've already worked my way through a few book series this year, but the roulette decided it was time for me to read another one.

What we have here, are the three first books in the crime series featuring Detective Jessica Niemi, written by Finnish author Max Seeck. There is technically a fourth book too, but I got the Norwegian translation

I have started taking the steps today to remove myself from Goodreads, as it is owned by Jeff Bezos. Instead, I have joined The StoryGraph, a black-owned alternative that works very much the same way as Goodreads, except it distances itself from Amazon products, and it is much more user-friendly.

As a die hard Kindle user I don’t bear Mr Bezos any malice but I’ll certainly check this out. I’m always on the lookout for a way to keep my reading organized. Most of my reading is from free ebooks these days (my local public library or Kindle Unlimited) & it gets frustrating when those don’t show up in one place, or I lose track of authors I enjoy.
ojtheviking:
@skisby To me, there is just too much history with him and racial discrimination. And the fact that Amazon profits from white supremacy books.

Oh damn. If you saw him in the Start Trek Deep Space 9 episode playing the grown up Jake Sisko, you got a sense of his tremendous acting ability that his most famous roles never revealed. So intense and so touching. He was truly a great actor.

Sad indeed

Totally forgot to post this here yesterday, although I posted about it on FB and IG.

Behold my next read! We have another debut novel on our hands, by Sunyi Dean. First published in 2022, so I'm a little behind, but hey, books are portable time capsules anyway.

I'm intrigued by the premise: There is a secret line of people who feed on books (so
