The Haunting of Hill House! One of Shirley Jackson's most timeless classics, and one of the two works that put her on a map as a successful author. It's been adapted into a movie, which itself received a remake, and then Mike Flanagan created an extremely successful TV series adaptation of it, which I have yet to see. It's partly why I am finally reading this book now: to see how true Flanagan's series stays to the source material.
For those who may still not be too familiar with this story, the overall description is as follows: Four individuals investigate the malevolent Hill House, where supernatural forces escalate, ultimately targeting one of them as the chosen victim.

@peregrina It was quite different than the movies; I still haven't watched the series, but from what I have seen of clips and trailers, it's still very different.
