Last night, on Tumblr, I learned that a friend of a friend who I was friendLY with unfollowed me. It didn't really bother me, sometimes interests just don't mesh and you move on, that's fine. But what followed kind of annoyed the crap out of me.

So the person in question made a post that said she would not follow NSFW Tumblrs. I feel like I'm preaching to the choir if I go on a rant (considering where I'm posting this blog on) so I won't talk about her being a prude. On my Tumblr, I'm known to post the occasional boob or two, along with scantily clad ladies. There's nothing wrong with me posting it, but there's also nothing wrong with someone not liking it. That's whatever. People are different.

It was what followed that really pissed me off.

The night before, another friend of that same friend, made a blog called "fuck-pants." My friend has gone on record saying that she hates pants and takes them off every chance she gets. The blog was simple, people post pictures of themselves not wearing pants. My friend posted a couple, I posted a couple, and the creator of the site posted a couple.

But I digress. The following day, the person who unfollowed me said that she find porn uncomfortable (valid) and she doesn't want it on her dash (also valid). But she was disappointed in her friend (that mutual friend of ours) for posting pictures of herself in her underwear because it somehow made her think less of her friend, whose she's known since they were kids in Nebraska (she still lives there, our mutual friend lives near me in California.). How it hurt HER that her friend posted a picture of herself in her underwear. This bothered me because it's not valid at all. In fact, it's selfish and it's slut-shaming to say that she shouldn't do something because it affects HER and SHE thinks less of HER friend for doing something that was their own choice? The post has since been deleted.

I almost posted this on Tumblr, but I realize I don't want to start trouble again saying my piece. I DO need to get it out there, however.

Internet Dynamics are just as complex as, if not more than, Real Life Dynamics.

My head hurts.

EDIT: I should probably add that the mutual friend in question was feeling terrible and having the worst day afterwards, as posted on Facebook. Linked? More than likely, IMO.

dislike... seems silly...
If she doesn't like it, she has every right not to look at it, but that's about it... shouldn't think less of somebody for what they like, especially if what they like is harmless... fuck pants.
