serenity

the people who died
inside a petri dish
because they'd
been stripped of their
desire to fight
for stupid things.

he's a leaf,
he drifts in the wind, the frightened one
but he avoids
the conlict and thus
invites a kind of ultimate
destruction.

a leaf is
disconnected from
the tree, it has
but a few moments of
movement left
before it
lands upon the
dirt, which
it remembers being.

what if every jerk
who ever lost
their will to struggle for sinful things,
throughout all of recorded history,
lived together in a city,
and simultaneously
stopped eating.

and the cause
was that forces malignant had acted
to convince them
not to believe in
whatever needs they believed
in just a second before.

the leaf is dead
as it falls,
the river brings
the living home because
it rips apart the
reepers (sic)
with an axe?

and so the moral is
love the world you have, or
whatever constitutes your ship and
its crew is an entity
that can benefit from love,
concern, and hope
