Does society actually exist or is it just a concept that brings together various strange and individual forces under one familiar name?
There are forces that encourage us to switch out and momentarily exist on a different level than we did before, to let go of familiar beliefs, and then come back. (drugs, movies, books, some forms of exercise, all help with the temporary suspension of burdensome beliefs).
There are forces -- personal/cultural/biological -- that encourage people to believe in certain things, to behave and communicate in certain ways. And its probably all nice and great unless there's a self-destructive aspect. If there's one or several self-destructive aspects, those aspects don't necessarily need to be stopped, but they ought to be known. Perhaps.
It will always be true that a significant portion of what society teaches is actually wrong. Society will change, and ideas of truth will change, but there will never be a day when society teaches children well. And i think its morally wrong to hope that society will. Cause ultimately its better if they teach themselves. Society, whatever it is, is not pure and good and never was, and never will be, and anyone who wants society to be purely good is probably an evil son of a bitch. That is, if evil really exists, which i doubt. Good and bad exist, fucked-up exists, but evil maybe not. If evil exists it doesn't know that it's evil. It thinks its doing right, or doing what its entitled to do because it considers itself to be in a superior class.
