5. When the prophet said it is written what he meant was it is written, therefore it is true. He didnt mean, because it is written, we can use it as a point of reference. And when he talked about the need for leaving the old wine in the old wine skins, and adding new wine into new wineskins, he was not alluding to the need for new religious interpretations in new time periods.

I cant believe in god, the defined, the limited by a name. I do believe in the sheer and insurmountable scope of all the things that I dont know. I guess I believe in the mystery of the eternal, change, and identity, and stasis. And in a little while, Ill stop cause its not fun to think in vaguries all the time. Stasis. Aesthetic arrest. Rest. Maybe thats what the angel (played by emma thompson in Angels in America) is trying to convey with her maniacal twisting movements. She says stop moving, she even has a cardboard sign with those exact words, but shes actually recommending new and more immediate forms of rest and relaxation. They blend biblical themes into the normal and everyday world so beautifully in that movie. It makes sense that themes (biblical, mythical, or just themes in general) can live in a real way in peoples lives. Forms. Ecstatic patterns, that are not there unless we see them. The things that angels are made of. If you lose the ability to dream, like the mormon husband does in the movie, then all you have left is the ability to hate yourself. And if you have the ability to love just one or two things, and you hate yourself, then you need rest, not forward motion. Forward motion will destroy you, cause thats what hating yourself means. If you dream well, like the drug-addicted woman on the plane, then forward motion is very good. And neither of those statements are true. Also, its obvious that the angels are all about the ecstasy of sex. The body is the temple of the soul and all that. Also, movies should always be 6-hours or longer, cause, otherwise the characters are flat and the story arc is boring. Also, forms can be addictive, and at some point its becomes necessary to reject them, usually around the twilight of ones life. Or around twelve oclock , cause at twelve oclock its time to party. January 1, 2005 is the first day of the year, and 1/1/2005 is numerologically reducable to 9. Whats in a number. Or what does the number 9 mean to the other, the overly rational closet case whos incapable of dreaming. Nothing? Then its probably time to leave him.
