NOT TRUTH / NOT GOOD / NOT A NORMAL PARAGRAPH.
(An overly complicated free-write)
Aproximate truth is king. Absolute truth is a trap, like incest, circling back into itself. Like a black hole. An absolute truth might be undeniably true, but its sort of antogonistic to life. Or antogonistic to long term survival. It tears the ordinary world to shreds. Only approximate truth permits enough room for being real. But nobody likes approximates, nobody wants to admit to quantum probabilities, they want certainty, they want the blackness to come swallow them whole and it will, although it will always let them out eventually. People want absolute truth. They dont want to perceive onto the world that lusts for just such an encounter, instead they want to discover it already formed, they want to be told by the universe what is true. They dont want to be involved in creation. They want to watch the truth unfold right in front of their soul, like a tv show. The problem is truth. The solution is movement The goal is a change, apparently. They say everybodys at a different stage of growth. And none of the stages are better or higher. There is no absolute reference point from which the heighth of a stage can be judged. Someone gets enlightened or approaches a crossroads in their life, they say I must do x. And they must. Fine. Their approximate truth might be dead on accurate, but their absolute truth is a joke. Ha. I dont like the word growth cause it implys a hierarchy of being that I completely disagree with. Why is the goal of growth so automatically accepted. Like you should always enlarge yourself, acquiring key nutrients and combining them into structures that will inevitably increase your happiness. Its like a spiritual form of capitalism. As if amassing these structures of happiness was the purpose of being alive, as if you need to destroy all the bad and painful structures as quickly as you can. I think thats a stupid and worthless goal. Like he said in Fight Club, self-improvement is masturbation. I dont know if I agree or even understand what it means, but I do think that pursuing growth for its own sake is a crock. But in all that new age books, its as if growing is always the appropriate thing. As if acquiring knowledge was going to make the demons go away. Nothing makes the demons go away except for love, thankfulness for the experience of suffering their presence. And that only changes them into angels. And angels are so fucking useless, that after a while you start praying that the demons would come back. And they never do. Cause they dont suffer fools. But the point is still the same. Truth is not an absolute. Theres always the observer effect, like in science, even if you try to pretend like your just observing the universe, you are still creating your perception, being the god of your world, either habitually like a machine, or instinctively like a person, because thats your role as a being. I dont think theres a pre-existing bunch of truths. Truth and eternity do not pre-exist or pre-date us. Eternity is not past or future or now. It is the conundrum that our intellect can never unravel but that our being always knows approximately, sort of. Knowledge doesnt save us. Growth doesnt save us. Living saves us. Nothing else. Thats what the buddhists try to return to, the state of being alive, instead of being a victim of other peoples lies. I believe that other people exist fully and that their truth is real, to the extent that they have created it themselves in a kind of duet with the world that theyve encountered. When somebody recognizes truth, even if its opposed to my own, their truth is still totally real, and it doesnt lessen my own truth in any way at all. I dont know. Maybe theres a different universe for every person, with their own consciousness as the center of it. And they have lots of experiences that will effect their true and fascinating universe. And then theres the over-arching universe as well, the totality that embraces all the little universes created by the humans. But the over-arching universe doesnt trump the individual universes, it is their servant. Its their buddha. The little universes are the purpose.
