10/10: Are you superstitious? Which superstitions do you believe in

I'm not superstitious in the meaning that I avoid ladders or black cats. Why would I pass the oppertunity to pet a kitty? I actually pet that black kitty and if I see a ladder I walk under it. Black is my happy color and white is my unlucky color. So I try to defy them.

I am a firm believer of signs and I wear a necklace with labradorite to protect me from negativity.

I have a few books on superstition. Older books that I have had for ages and my mother before me. Also some awesome books about witchcraft. Those books are really dear to me as I got them from my grandmother.

Something I still do is if I spill salt I would throw a pinch over my shoulder. It's something I saw my mom do everytime salt was spilt. I don't even know where that habit came from. I know my moms mother did it too. And that woman was super SUPER superstitious. She was an old gypsy type woman, read tea leaves and stuff. She would not go near a black cat or a ladder for that matter.

I have a great interest for the occult, light or dark, I love that mystical part of life. That's why I do believe in signs and that nothing happens without a reason.

There is a massive difference between folk wisdom and superstition.  The former is based upon a blend of common sense for a specific region combined with an awareness of the forces (and entities) which are just slightly out of most humans awareness.  Thanks to the modern homogeneous world a lot of this is lost and replaced by echoes, most of which are silly and empty.  The salt thing: a long time ago salt was not so easy to come by, and spreading salt upon ground often rendered that ground dead for a long time--so to spill salt is to call death to you.  tossing some of it behind you is like saying 'death get thee gone!' ... hang on to those books and knowledge from your grandmother's generation... it will be needed in the none too distant future... / as for stones--some are alive and have some power, most are lifeless and as such have no power at all other than to look pretty... hold stones in the palm of your hand and if it gets warm you may get a sense of the stone and even images of where it came from (which should be checked only after the fact).. such stones may be of help.  (--i happen to be someone who has dealt with these things for many, many years--)
