Buried in the massive text of the recently passed health care bill is a new tax with a sinister racist intent--a 10% tax on tanning salons. Apparently this tax was written with the intent of punishing those who want to darken their white skin. In other words, it's a tax directed against white people. Or at least that's what Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck believe.

Meanwhile, back in the world of real news, Italy's news organizations are stopping the presses for a day in protest of a bill PM Berlusconi is trying to pass that would prevent reporting on government corruption investigations. Mind you, Berlusconi has had a very corrupt tenure as PM.
When reporters in Italy are going so far as to refuse to report anything at all in protest of their government's actions and the press in the U.S. basically does stenography for the GOP there's something wrong in this world.

GQ did a recent article about Berlusconi that was very interesting. It focused mainly on his womanizing but also how that has affected his choice of party members. It's amazing the things he is getting away with. Unfortunately I don't know enough about the situation to determine if he is a charismatic leader that people are letting slide or if he rules more by an iron fist, by your statement is appears to be the latter. I'm also concerned because Italy appears to have a much more lax rule on term limits, but based on Italy's financial situation he is going to have to come up with real solutions sooner than later.
