So went out with some of the SGDFW group Saturday night. It was a night of juggling plans since I wanted to wish my comic book store owner a happy birthday and have a couple of drinks with him. But it all worked out smoothly. We gathered at Lee Harvey's, one of the more dive places in Dallas, so of course I was drinking Lone Star, the beer of choice for a dive bar. It was a small group but well worth it. I think I would have gotten lost if there were too many other people. We kept sending Zen_ out to scout SGs. Dallas has a thriving tattoo culture, but for some reason few girls who are comfortable enough with themselves to join SG, let alone do a set. I ended up in a long, rather worthless conversation with one such girl. Knowing Dallas, I'll probably run into her again and just laugh my ass off when I do. God was she a bore.
The rest of the group was great; very open and welcoming. The kind of people I like because they come from such diverse backgrounds. The conversation rattled on from one thing to the next. It was, in a word, exactly what a night in Dallas is all about: comfortable. When you can slip in to a group of people like an old pair of shoes, you know you've found people worth your while. I certainly look forward to future events.
