God it was good to see Centro-Matic last night. Yeah, they played a lot of newer stuff that I've never taken a liking to, but they also threw in some real gems. I've heard the achingly beautiful slow version of "Rock'n'Roll Eyes" but never the album version live. That was followed with "Part Of This Accident" then later "Infernoesque Grande" and "Flashes & Cables" in...

Best advice I've ever been given about business: get rid of your headaches, even if they're people. I think that easily applies to personal life.

agreed!

Dunno why that comment works, but I suppose others have had people in their lives who are nothing but headaches. I'd rather deal with honest people, even if I have less to gain, than those who present themselves as nothing but problems.
One of the many ways I'm not normal even amongst the abnormal: I still make mix tapes (well, CDs, but you get the idea). Sent off four mixes to a few friends early in April. Had another mailed out to a mix CD club I'm in (yeah, I'm that nerdtastic when it comes to music). Liked making that one as a friend and his wife...

Morning meeting with an employee. Hate playing management but sometimes you have to step up, even if it's to knock someone down. Always a fun morning when you have to remind an employee that they're not the boss and to check their emotions with customers.
Hrrmh, May. Never liked this month. Bad things always happen; to me, to my family, to those around me. This year is different. A friend and his wife are at the hospital right now: baby time! New LCD Soundsystem album drops mid-month, though I already got a preview copy from a music blog reviewer. Work is sorting itself and turning profitable again.

A friend pointed me to this site so I could take a look at some of the unusual jewelry styles. But the whole blog is fantastic: Haute Macabre
I do so love entwined minds in conversation. It's the warm hearth that renews chilly souls. It's the place you return to after the initial white hot flame of passion dissipates. It separates the lasting friendships from the fleeting.
God but I do hate me some photo editing. Making cover art wasn't this hard if I remember.
I could write books. I could write tomes; thousand pages, small print. I could write volumes with appendices, indexed and cross-referenced made searchable in an electronic document. And what of such efforts? A lot of dead trees, wasted ink and insecure emotional bullshit. Toss the paper, the library shelf full of words, the excess. Get down to brass tacks. Can't write a history of the...

New blog post. Probably ought to do something on that. Meditation and shower first though.
Twelve hours to go before I'm delivered by taxi to DFW. I'd say there are butterflies in my stomach but they're in my chest, toes, elbows and back of my neck. Seems a whole colony of caterpillars cocooned in me over Christmas and now they're bugging the hell out of me with their wings and bright colors and whatnot. I know exactly who to blame...

Booked--flight, hotel, car, the lot. Who would have thought I would end up in Phoenix in the middle of January? I have a feeling this is only the start of a very good year.
astatine:
My year has begun amazingly well..I'm looking forward to a wonderfully fulfilling culmination of the first month of 2010.
Oh, and the middle of January is the best time to be in Phoenix. Haha.
