His paintings always seem to be about isolation. Ironically, I'm kind of obsessed about his work because they make me feel less alone. I used to want to paint so I could put it down on paper and say "look, this is how I feel." It's not an especially depressing thing to me though. Lots of his paintings have a very strong feeling of contentment in them. Lots of them are also about feeling austrisized and confused but that's life. I want to do a set for SG and base it off of one of his paintings. Theres one called eleven am and I want to set up my room just like that painting and have the last pic in the set replicate the painting. I have really short hair though but I don't think that will matter too much.

I saw Brassai on your list and didn't remember the name but I just looked him up and have seen lots of his work before. It's very romantic. I actually had always wanted to go to France and I finally got the chance a couple years ago (the best two weeks of my life). While in Paris I walked up these stairs and pictured this photograph while I did it. I had seen it before and it really made it hit home that I had actually made it to Paris.
