the band I'm in going on a break... but since we're a band we can call it a "hiatus" since that sounds more official (although also kind of ominous) .... its only for a month or so.... our singer is going to San Francisco and the rest of us are staying in town and either writing and getting ready to record or lazing it up and doing nothing particular and getting together to occasionally smoke cigarettes, watch movies, and drink wine (if we get together at all)... we haven't really decided what we're going to make of the time.....we have at least 3 or 4 new songs that noone in town has heard yet so it'll be cool to play some shows and "premiere" those when he gets back.....

I'm having an "insanely jealous of Interpol" period thats making writing new stuff kind of difficult.....and a guy that I used to be in a band with has this new psychadelic project (a kind of music that I also like albeit more "psych pop") and thats been kind of a bummer too.... its sort of like watching your ex girlfriend copulate vigorously with her sexy new boyfriend and everyone saying "gosh doesn't he look better at it than you ever did"......but I'll get over that too......we got a write up in the Alibi (our city's free weekly) about our show in Austin that was far more complementary than it should have been giving our wretched performance. (I broke a string midway through the first song and was mostly out of tune the entire rest of the show and our drummer's hand cramped up severely and he kept dropping sticks and missing beats... plus nervousness all around).....so hopefully he'll catch us one day at a better show and think something of us.....

my mixtapes have been terrible lately..... and so has my cooking.....

I decided that I want to start a business... and I also decided to take the big "no really FUCK YOU" step with my job and put in my two weeks (which should resume when I get better)... so I'll hopefully getting another job really soon .. maybe even two.... so I've got to make a concerted effort to look better (more swanky... you know.. like I care) and not be so demoralized and bummed out all the time......

anyway I'm still sick (bronchitis, it turns out) but its going away.... so I'm off to practice tonight.... hopefully all this Interpol and Unwound I've been listening to so far today will turn some switch in my brain and help me get back into the rockin and the rollin...
