Dear Egon - Do you like me? Y/N

octegon:
Dearest Xtine. I hope this letter finds you in good tidings. The war has been Hell on all of us. The men here grow weary. But the one thing that keeps me going, are my thoughts of you and the many sensations that accompany such an ethereal figure. No matter how many of my Union brothers I see blown to bits by indiscriminate cannon fire, or the screams from the medical tent or the unrelenting stench of uncleared summer fields, I still have my memories of you to see me through. So to answer your question, yes. Yes I do like you. Very much so. Should I survive this hellscape of the flesh, I would very much like to take you out for ice cream. Have they invented that yet? Painfully yours, Lieutenant Colonel Erikson Jay "Egon" Wargo, Esquire, Company G 93rd Battle Regiment of Orange County
xtine:
Darling Egon,I am writing this just moments after seeing my brother off on his way to Farallon Islands off the coast of San Francisco, where now that the Egg Company has won the war against fishermen for the island, he will no doubt make his fortune in the lucrative business of egg harvesting granted there is a position available for a 16 year old boy with smallpox. These few minutes writing you have been the highlight of my mundane life. I dream of a day where we will meet again and partake in ice cream, which has been around since 1660. Until we meet again, I will continue to devote time away from my chores and housework to research California during this Civil War era to keep this going for as long as it takes. I know it's what you would want me to do. At least until nightfall when I will take my father's gun and round my sisters to shoot at the scoundrels in what we believe to be a section of the Mason Henry Gang. Or perhaps they're just restless wanderers? Regardless the sexual oppression and misogyny of this time has made us hungry for blood. Yours Truly, ⁃ Xtine
