While I'm at it... here are some thoughts on the The Walking Dead and a wheel.

The other day, I happened to grab an old copy of Juxtapoz magazine that I had lying around and as I was flipping through I noticed an advert for a bike that had the diagram of a bicycle. It was modified for zombie defense or zombie killing. It looked dumb but thats not the point.

It got me to thinking about the Walking Dead television show and the perpetual state of the characters having to walk and walk or to find a car with some gas in it - a short lived luxury. LAME.

WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL OF THE BICYCLES?!!!!

Was there a mass destruction of bicycles ? If you really think about it, the whole crew could have made it to wherever the hell they are going in a fraction of the time if they had the sense to find some bicycles and ride'em.

Then I started thinking about how important bicycles would be in a situation where there is no electricity or gas. It is a brilliant invention on many levels. But I don't think the bicycle is the best invention, it is only an enhancement or utilization of the best invention - the wheel. I think the wheel is a very important invention (forgive my opinion because many others may think otherwise).

At its basic level, the wheel, in a modified form has been utilized in other tools and gadgets - clocks/watches, tools and many other things that have helped us to complete some task or the other.

Ultimately, without a whole bunch of boringness, the wheel has allowed for the creation of planes, trains, and automobiles - all of which have helped in our so called "advancement". And this in turn, brings me back to the idea of the bicycle being a very efficient invention that does not need gas or electricity but is powered by the individual. It is simple and gets one from point A to point B very quickly.

Now, if I had it my way and someone was bright enough to look for a bicycle in the show, this whole Walking Dead phenomenon would sadly be over. The name might have to by changed to "The Cycling Dead", the survivors would probably have arrived at their destination (if they even have one) in a few episodes, they wouldn't have to worry so much about dodging the walkers because they could out-ride those ass-dragging zombies and they would all be in a healthier state - both mentally and physically because they would have fun riding their bicycles!

So now with that bunch of silly blogging boredom out of my mind, I am done. Thanks for reading, now go ride a bike!
