Did you ever make a friend that you later regretted letting into your life? My life is pretty strongly affected by who I choose to hang around so I try to be discerning about who I make attachments with. But sometimes you make a mistake, or they change, or YOU change and they don't--and for mental health reasons you've got to push that person out of your life. But I find it so hard to do that, to generate the necessary coldness, even when I know it's necessary, even when I basically don't even like the person anymore. I think it's because I want people to like me and something in me rebels at alienating someone who likes me--even when I don't like them anymore.
That sounds pretty harsh. Well thankfully it doesn't come up all that often. But there's this one guy who I ran into last night... let's just say he reminded me why the hell I don't hang out with him anymore.
In happier news, I'm looking forward to the SG-Chicago get-together this Friday. It should be swell. (And no doubt all of you will be my friends forever.

Also: I'm currently reading Kingsley Amis' On Drink, as recommended to me by dollface. Great book!

I have no friends anymore, and haven't bothered to make any, so go figure I guess.
