I'm home for the holidays and trying to slog through the surreal jungle of my family obligations. I love the fam--but due to various divorces and remarriages and whatnot I have several branches of it each of which with various claims on my time and energy. I have to buy gifts for 15 people, and frankly I'm just all scroogishly tired of it. It's not the money so much as just the energy that has to go into that many thoughtful gifts on a limited budget for people I (mostly) care about. (To make things worse I can never remember what I got people in years past--I should make a list so no one gets body oils or candals or flying robots or whatever twice in a row.)

However, my Dad will be in New Orleans for Christmas day, and since I'm traditionally at his place then, I've staked out that afternoon for my own personal anti-Christmas in which I will sit around the house and give myself the gift of booze and porn.

In other news, somewhere, someone is rebuilding the transmission on the 1978 Cadillac Fleetwood I just bought. Oh yes, it will be a pimpin' ride for me when I return to PDX in January.
