Summertime seems to be a time of change for me, looking back on the past few years. Most of my major moves and changes have been in the summer, but not generally from my choice, it's just happened that way.

So now it's June 1, summer's basically here, and I'm wondering what's going to go down over the next 3-4 months.

I have a feeling I'll be changing jobs; the inherent problem in that is that I happened to land about the best-paying cooking job I'm going to get any time in the near future last year when I got to L.A., so making a move probably means taking a paycut. That makes me wonder if I'll have to move to a cheaper apartment, which I might want to do anyway, depending on where I end up working, since I'm not a fan of long commutes.

I want to move from the big kitchen I'm in now to something smaller; I think I prefer being in a small kitchen where 2-3 cooks crank everything out instead of the 8 or so that we have in our place when we're staffed up for the big weekends.

I'm also looking for a change in food. I like what we do, but I want to do different stuff after 9 months or so of it.

I have now lived in L.A. as long as I lived in London, which seems odd; London felt like a much longer period of time than L.A. has. I think I got out and saw more of London, even though I felt like I didn't see nearly as much of it as I should have. I definitely knew more about the London restaurant scene; I guess I need to do some more research. There are certainly places here that I want to check out, I just get mired into my routine and fail to do new things like I should. Partly that is due to living by the beach and there being so many places on the opposite side of town that I want to check out.

Hmmm....
