Nyya: "Variant of African Swahili Nia , meaning "purpose."
"Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy! Holy!
The world is holy! The soul is holy! The skin is holy! The nose is holy! The tongue and cock and hand and asshole holy!
Everything is holy! everybody's holy! everywhere is holy! everyday is eternity! Everyman's an angel! " -Allen Ginsburg
"Her silence itself comes from the myth: If (a woman) feels ugly, it is (her) fault, and we have no inalienable right to feel sexually beautiful. A woman must not admit to it if she objects to beauty pornography because it strikes to the root of her sexuality by making her feel sexually unlovely. Male or female, we all need to feel beautiful to be open to sexual communication: "beautiful" in the sense of welcome, desired, and treasured. Deprived of that, one objectifies oneself or the other for self-protection." Naomi Wolf The Beauty Myth: How Images of Beauty are Used Against Women
The first time I saw SG, I thought, "SOMEONE FINALLY GOT SOMETHING RIGHT GODDAMMIT!!!!"
In SG I see a change from the monotheistic slimmer-toner-taller-bustier stereotyped ideal into a new mosaic of beauty- the body as an art form, the body as a canvas for self-creation, self-expression. Yes, SG has its own sort of stereotype as well, but it's far more open and attainable, far more uplifting, for the average woman than the figures of high fashion models are today.
I am mad-crazy with desire to become an SG, to call this place where I can express myself through the palette of colors I choose, through the crumbling bricks of walls or the lush green of grass and feathery brown of pubic bush. I think women- people in genral- should not contort themselves into gym and diet and magazine driven frenzies, but instead let thier bodies, thier clothing, thier hair, flow from who they are, express in a physical frame the beauty they hold within. Hello, SG!
