So my friend from Japan brought in a picture of her relatives to be framed. It was of her great-great grandmother all the way through to her mother as a child. If you looked at her gggrandmothers knuckles and hands they were all tattooed like crazy. My friend was saying when her grams was a child they still had Samurai in Japan and they would come and steal the daughters of families to be their concubines. But they wouldn't take the girls if they were "marred" by these tattoos because in Japanese culture tattoos are frowned upon especially on women.
