I have some pretty serious travel coming up. In the next month I will be in New York, Detroit, Dallas, London, Greece, and San Fransisco. I'm getting on a plane again in a matter of hours. I spend the majority of my time talking about air travel bemoaning the multitudinous bad things, but there are cool things too.
1) Frequent flier miles. I have hundreds of thousands of these, not including the hundreds of thousands of AMEX points that can easily be converted.
2) Upgrades. I sit in First for free on roughly 60% of my flights.
3) Loopholes. There are lots, and I know most of them.
4) Have you ever seen a lightening storm 80 miles away from 35,000 feet? I have. Over the mountains, over the desert, over the ocean. Always breathtaking.
5) Flying over NYC at night. I get to do this just about every Friday, and it never loses it's lustre.
6) No matter how long or short a flight is, I can sleep for every damn minute of it if I want to.
7) Sunsets.
8) Sunrises.
9) Time to read. Put on the ipod, and crack the book. It's great.
10) Opportunity to watch movies such as "The Wedding Date" without having to rent it in front of people, and if I get into a conversation and someone says "what the fuck are you doing watching that movie?" I can respond "dude, they showed it on my flight, what do you want from me?"
