I'm Full of Rice

The grocer down the street from my apartment sells mostly organic sundries. Before you start feeling bad for me, they also have a deli counter which pumps out all the unhealthy combinations of meat and cheese that make me swoon. Their snacks are different though. Nary a Dorito in the house. I'm forced to substitute Kame flavored rice crackers and hummus. Not that I'm complaining, I love hummus. As a matter of fact, my heart skipped a beat for a moment a couple of weeks back when I thought the news had just reported that hummus won the parlimentary elections in Palestine. What could bring peace to the middle east faster than a parliment composed entirely by creamy chick peas, tahini, and oil? It's all about the oil over there. Anyhow, I was wrong.

But I digress. So the organic bodega also has assorted other flavored rice treates approximating chips. I bought many of these. I ate all of them. When it snows 27 inches in Central Park, you'd better be prepared. Some people are down with Hot Toddy's and comfort food. I'm not down with "preparing" food. Also, I was on antibiotics and so hot toddy's were out of the question. Rice based snacks are the Google of snacks. They are going to take over. I'm telling you. You heard it here first. You know how in Demolition Man all restaraunts in the future are Taco Bells (oh, sweet, crunchy, meat filled, cheese topped future)? Same thing. In the future, all snacks will be rice based.
