Weird, weird day in my little suburb.

A homeless guy yelled at me when I told him that I didn't have any cash. Apparently, he couldn't imagine how anyone that actually had money wouldn't be carrying physical money. I thought about telling him how poorly the police on this side of Lake Washington treat vagrants, but I figured he'd learn soon enough.

Just now, I was returning some DVDs when what I assume to be a rich-kid frat boy on summer break decided to show off for the women in his truck by testing me. He drove his late-model Nissan truck by and howled in a close approximation of what I think must have been The Darkness. I looked up, but paid it very little mind.

I dropped my DVDs off and turned around. He came running up with two similar guys and an underage-looking girl in tow. Two feet from me he stops and barks, "Did I sing good for you?"

I shake my head and step around him. I don't try to encourage this behavior, but my size and aloof demeanor work against me quite often.

He took three quick steps backward and stepped in my path again. This time he was apparently trying to be intimidating, "Don't walk like you didn't hear me. Did I sing good for you?"

"Are you really this stupid or drunk," I said quietly. "I'm twice your size, and I'm obviously not impressed."

He chewed on that for a second, stepped back again, and said something he felt appropriately pithy. Then they ran off. Kids.

I'm glad today is over.

You should have asked the bum if he took credit.

As it pertains to the second part, I don't possess your restraint. I envy you.

you did the right thing in both situations, not always the easiest thing to do the right thing.
