Another day turns spastically weird in the space of half an hour, but I'd rather not think or talk about that.
I had breakfast at the Brown Bag this morning, and for a moment I looked out, saw the lush green of the wet firs standing against the misty chill, and remembered why I've always found it so beautiful here. Afterward, I roamed aimlessly and indulged myself in a tiny bit of consumerism.
I picked up a nice shiraz to have with my halibut. For those of you who find my foodie tendencies interesting, I baked the halibut in a bed of fresh dill leaves and some of the shiraz and topped with thyme, salt, and pepper. I made new potatoes with pepper, garlic, dried onion, thyme, coriander, and salt. The veggie course was a lamb's lettuce salad with red onion slices, gorgonzola crumbles, walnuts, and raspberry vinaigrette. I accompanied all that with a couple glasses of the shiraz, some sourdough bread, and plain butter. Dessert was a few Le Petit Ecolier cookies and some VOSS.
I was in a superb mood after that meal, you can imagine. Then things went downhill, and now I 'm drinking bourbon and listening to At the Drive-In.
Hopefully, things will clear up this evening, and I'll be able to mount an expedition to Pike Place tomorrow for matsutake mushrooms.
