Imagine a birthday that you weren't even close to the center of attention, a birthday that wasn't about you at all. Imagine a birthday where you didn't get to do what you wanted--even though you planned it--because the timing of arrivals put other things the group wanted to do in the fore. Imagine a birthday where even one of the few tiny things that ever gives you pleasure was ripped from you by people that knew how unhappy what they were doing would make you and did it anyway (Imagine too simply saying that you were done doing this simple thing that should make you happy because everyone else makes you miserable when you do it).

Can you imagine that the times even your family just completely forgot your birthday were happier than this?

Can you imagine the hurt in your heart when your closest friend sees what is going to happen and apologizes to you and the only thing you can think to mouth back is, "It's okay. I didn't expect any better."
