Gas prices keep going up. As gas prices go up, people can afford to drive less and less. Ergo, people spend more time at home. They spend more time at home, they watch more TV. They watch more TV, they see more brainwashing advertisment and buy more shit that they don't need, which leaves them with less money which makes them drive even less, which makes them spend even more time at home, which, in turn, makes them watch even more TV, and, consequently, more advertisements.
