I need to get this out now while it is still fresh in my head...(about the staff photographers)
I usually don't like to take sides until I hear both sides of the story but so far I haven't heard anything from SG about why they let them go so I am going off of what I have heard from the photographers themselves. I personally think it is (for lack of a better word) a stupid move on SGs part to fire them. There has already been some controversy about who is being put on the front page which is making people leave SG or at least frustrating them into thinking about leaving. This, I feel, will be the last straw for some people.
I can completely understand if they are having financial issues, but I don't believe this is the way to solve them. My solution (and I know a lot of people won't agree with this) would be to pay the models less for their sets. Now I know a lot of models will be angry with me for that statement, but I truthfully think that it would weed out the people who are only trying to be SGs for financial gain and keep the ones that are truly in love with the idea of being an SG and the community we have here. I don't care as much about the $500 than I do about getting the recognition and status of being an SG. I would rather my photographer get paid more because without her I wouldn't even have a set coming out!
SGs are amazing girls, but wouldn't be anywhere without amazing photographers like Lorelei, ScottSmallin, and all the others who got fired. I just want to say that if I go pink with my set coming out I officially announce that I want Rockii (my photographer) to get half of my check. She was so amazing and took time out of her personal and work life to spend time shooting me and Narada_ for FREE. The photographers on this site sacrifice so much more than the models, and they deserve the recognition just as much as we do.
