Taylor Mali featured at my local poetry reading tonight. He's so good. Just fuckin' hilarious. For a long time I thought he was an elitest asshole, but I think I've come to the conclusion that that's just an affectation. I think underneathe he's actually a really nice guy. I bought one of his cds because, regardless...he IS good. But he's gotta be a nice guy,...

So sharing, on SG, is bad, although in the real world, it's good.

So I took my info out of the profile, and I'll try not to comment so much anymore. But I can't afford my own account right now, and what's the real point anyway since I'll hopefully be living with Matt in a couple of months. Oh right, the point is we're not...

Mikael is actually my REAL name. Name in real life. What my parents gave me. It's also what name I use when I shoot photosets for Les and others.

Hey, it sucks, but that's how we keep this community alive. Though, i don't think there's a ban on shoulder-gazing. Yet. smile

I'll miss you. But definately add me as a friend when you have an account too!!!

I saw Kill Bill 2 last night, as you may have read in Hannie's journal from last night. Man....it was so good...just...wow....amazingly uncommonly spectacular. The only thing I even remotely had against the first one was that, despite jumping around in time, the plot was still rather linear. KB2 complexifies things immensely, and with KB1 and 2 taken as a single film (as it was...

Notes from the E-town Underground:

I interviewed Pete Mosely, bassist for Yellowcard last night. What a rad guy.

I got to meet Andrew McMahon from Something Corporate. He's a very small man, and he seems kinda kooky. I didn't notice if he got his teeth fixed or anything, but he's cute.

People at Millersville U. are pretty nice, at least the ones I met.

It...

In other news, I've been subpeonaed as a witness for the prosecution in a domestic abuse case against a guy who lives at the end of my hallway (or did).

My roommate Kenny and I were going to bed real late one night in January, and heard a hysterical girl screaming and moaning in pain outside...so we went out to check it out. It's like...

What's even worse than the actual abuse itself is the mentality of the victim in this case. At the risk of sounding like I'm condoning this sort of thing (which I'm NOT), in some cases, certain people need this kind of treatment to feel fulfilled, wanted. They obviously need therapy as badly as the abuser. That being said, I hope he gets punished to the fullest extent of the law, and I hope she gets help.

ahh, human drama. skull

edited for meaning-obsuring typos.

Yeah I agree with you pretty much. I'm not sure that they need it to feel fulfilled but over time the abused manage to convince themselves that the goods in the relationship outweigh the bads, and that even if they did leave they wouldn't be able to do any better. I think it's partially a self esteem issue. Also sometimes they try to rationalize it and convince themselves it was their fault, or that they deserved it, and so the abuser "really isn't such a bad guy, he just did it because he loves me."

It just makes me oppressively sad to know that there are still people going through this every day and telling themselves why it isn't so bad.

After we knew this guy had passed out, kenny and I were very close to going into his room and beating the fuck out of him. He hadn't locked his door...it was so tempting...to give him a taste of his own medicine. It almost would have been worth it, even if it does sort of sink us to his level. I'm a pretty nonviolent guy......but assholes like that just deserve pain.

So...

Allen Planz never made it. Fuckin' rain. Apparently he got to northern Jersey and the car in front of him hydroplaned and spun, meanwhile the radio is screaming that NJ is under a flood watch or warning or something unpleasant of that nature. So he turned around and went home.

He sent Rich, the host of the poetry reading, an email but Rich didn't...

My favorite poet is the world (Alan Planz, the little known surrealist/beat poet from NYC, contemporary of keruac, etc) is coming to our local reading tonight to feature because I invited him. I'm so excited to meet this guy! I stumbled onto one of his books last summer and since then I've become a HUGE fan of his poetry...and now I get to meet him!...

congrats! John Sinclair just came around here last autumn, too, and it was absolutely awesome. Those old cats are just really together. I wish we had outspoken, talented members of our generation.

btw, i LOVED Shroedinger's Kittens (a nod to both quantum theory and one of my favorite authors), but alas, the rest of the band didn't like it.
