I use these terms some days for myself..my cheese slid off, or i'm 3 frys short of a happy meal...when we think of mental illnesses, they are more than definitions in a text book, real people suffer mental illness, not text books that teach doctors, but to teach doctors, they are not always right. As individual with mental illness, i have seen the treatment side with pills, somewhere in the balance, the meds made me stupid, and tired all the time, it was not a life, for me at least.... sometimes treating mental issues is easy, just listen, and most times all is good....circumstances don't mean you need a pill and label...from a doctor, or society.

Yes, thank you, sometimes people need medications, i admit, but when you have been treated for so many years, and find out first hand, that with coping skills and ways of managing our lives in ways that we can soften the blow of hard core mood stabilizers...We have been in the Age of knowledge, we need to listen, listening is how we can help...as for the shootings, i see copy cats, and 15 minutes of recognition, and I see the inner core issues, how many of those shooting were bullies getting it, we cannot continue to burden metal illnesses with gun violence, and dysfunctional family lives, that is where we need to look, alcohol related gun violence in the home, if we do not look at the basis of our core illnesses as a society, we will never see true peace, or happiness, and any doctors can disagree, I have seen to many 401 K programs profited off Wall Street... what is long term care, and short term rewards without fully knowing chemicals we put in our bodies...
