"Between 70 million and 100 million Americans—or as many as one in three—have a criminal record. Many have only minor offenses, such as misdemeanors and nonserious infractions; others have only arrests without conviction. Nonetheless, because of the rise of technology and the ease of accessing data via the Internet—in conjunction with federal and state policy decisions—having even a minor criminal history now carries lifelong barriers...

Oregon currently has a bill going through our legislature to eliminate a check-box on employment applications where the job applicant would indicate if they have been convicted of a crime.  It can be discussed during an interview, however.  It passed the House, but still needs to pass the Senate.  According to this story, fifteen other states have already passed similar laws.  http://www.oregonlive.com/politics/index.ssf/2015/04/house_passes_ban_the_box_bill.html

@catdad , it's a step forward and it's more fair to dozens of ex-convicts who want to reorganize their lives. hope all the states pass similar legislation, even those more deeply linked with the republican party.

DREAM-LOVE

“Young Love lies sleeping
In May-time of the year,
Among the lilies,
Lapped in the tender light:
White lambs come grazing,
White doves come building there:
And round about him
The May-bushes are white.

Soft moss the pillow
For oh, a softer cheek;
Broad leaves cast shadow
Upon the heavy eyes:
There wind and waters
Grow lulled and scarcely speak;
There twilight lingers
The...

Here is a marvellous workshop Terence McKenna did at Esalen in 1997. It was about imagination but it went beyond that. It went on quantum physics, novelty theory, psychedelics, culture, and so forth and so on.

AMERICA

"America I've given you all and now I'm nothing.
America two dollars and twenty-seven cents January 17, 1956.
I can't stand my own mind.
America when will we end the human war?
Go fuck yourself with your atom bomb
I don't feel good don't bother me.
I won't write my poem till I'm in my right mind.
America when will you be angelic?
When...

hahahaha, great!                                  @1akbrian  it was originally used by the tribes but then it turned into a sacred plant for rituals in alternative religions such as Santo Daime, wich is very popular among hippies and naturalists. Its use is legal as long as you take it during the sacred reunions and stuff. It became very polemic when a guy used it, and during a psychedelic trip, killed a cartoonist for unknown reasons. It was on television during a long time in Brazil, but still, it's legal and it was called an isolated case. Basically the same as mescalina from peyote.

Let us go then, you and I,
When the evening is spread out against the sky
Like a patient etherized upon a table;
Let us go, through certain...
