No news, but I thought I'd update anyway. Still completing my Network+ training at home after work. I have been taking practice exams for the 2005 test, and scoring in the passing range. I have the fundamentals down: the OSI model, subnetting, TCP/IP, physical topologies, logical topologies, 802.xx standards, TCP ports, network devices, to name a few. The amount of information on the Network+ test would take a year to cover indepth. I know enough now to pass the test, in a week I will have even more memorized. Unfortunately, I think that all the information I have will fade quickly because I did not 'learn' all of it, but rather memorized a lot of things. Then again, when in the field will you have to remember terminology or specific standards? That's what a book and google is for.
I have also been taking a more systematic method to learning. My old strategy was to read everything, then once I had a general overview of the information I am learning, everything would fall into place. It seems that with this new info that I'm learning, I must get hands on, document my methods, review the documentation. Much different strategies to learning than I am used to; however, I have never been faced with time restrictions on learning before.
