A girl walks down a street in a yellow raincoat. The sky is grey and overcast, the air is damp. A pleasant 6 PM breeze dances through her beautiful brown hair. The buildings she walks by seem vacant. No cars, no other people, nothing, but the grey sky, and the girl walking in her yellow raincoat. She pauses at a door, notes the open sign, opens the door and walks in. A black and grey checkered floor greets the soles of her shoes.
The room is quiet, a bar, and a few booths, one waiter behind the bar staring vacantly into the distance. There is a boy sitting in a booth reading a newspaper, with a glass of iced tea next to him, a wedge of lemon drooping towards the brown liquid in the glass.
The girl walks over and sits down in the booth, across from the boy.
"What are you reading??"
"Nothing," is the boy's reply, his gaze intent on the paper.
The waiter walks over in a relaxed manner.
"What will you have??" he asks.
"A glass of water please". The waiter brings the water over and sets it on the table next to her, and goes back to his perch behind the bar staring at nothing again.
The girl looks at the boy. The grey light coming in through the windows seems to enter his eye and dance around inside of it before leaving, giving his eyes a mellow amber color. His long hair lightly touches the newpaper he is reading.
The boy stands, says excuse me, and makes for the restroom.
The girl sneaks a peak at the paper he was reading.
The city newspaper name is at the top, but other than that, the date, and 50 cents, there are no words on the paper.
She picks it up, leafs through the pages, not seeing any words. She gets to page 8, looks in the center, and notes that there is one phrase.
It reads, in small black letters "Carpe Occasio".
She places the paper back as it was before the boy went to the restroom.
The boy comes back to the booth, smelling of soap. He gets back to staring at his newspaper.
The girl drinks her water.
The boy drinks his iced tea.
She asks, "What do you do??"
"Nothing," is his reply. The waiter comes over and gives the check.
The boy pays, and leaves a twenty dollar tip on the table.
A light drizzle has developed outside.
The two sit there, the boy reading his newspaper, and the girl watching intently.
Then, simultaneously, they get up, clasp each other's hand, and walk out into the damp grey city.

I can certainly think of quite a few good scenes that could happen on a subway. Especially a subway in Tokyo. Heh. The mind takes off.
