Sooooo....

Sunburnt boobs leads to itchy boobs. This is not a good look. Lesson: Do not sit at a brewery in a low cut top on a hot day. I can never end well.

I locked myself out of my house. It was so stupid too because I looked at my keys as I was leaving and continued to walk out the door. I knew...

Yay!
Have you spent much time up here? Its not nearly as bad as people might have you believe, its actually quite nice smile
zamm:

Yeah it kinda bums me out that a lot of people south of here seem to hate it. The stupid thing is that a lot of the people who have tried to tell me how much Auckland sucks have never actually lived here.... dorks.
Its a really beautiful city with stacks of great people and lotsa fun shit to do.
Im sure you'll love it.... we'll I hope at least.
Schooling up here or work?

Hmm. New government. This should be interesting.

I don't feel I have much to update here. I've been working like a mad bastard trying to save some money in order to move. On the other hand I've been going out waaaay too much and kind of burning the candle at both ends so am always tired blackeyed

I sold my gym membership. This is a huge...

what are your thoughts on hugs? are people very physically affectionate in New Zealand? While i think, in general, people in New York are actually very friendly and possibly moreso than back home, people are far less showingly affectionate. I used to get hugs from everybody all the time. Here, not so much. and i'm pretty sure it's not cuz i'm ugly, though one never knows...

i think i have the biggest crush on you ever. blush

and i am flattered to know that you make yourself late for work just to write to me. i'm honored. *bows*

i'm not that scared of leaving shit behind. I mean i know the startup could be potentially rough. But jumping into it with plans laid out and having a job lined up would make things happen. Work is the easiest way for me to meet people. As long as I get out and pursue cool activities, building a life for myself wouldn't be that hard. I think starting from scratch is an exciting idea. It kinda forces me to get out there and discover new things, which is easy to NOT do when you live in a comfortable place.

as for the music scene, i'll be honest and say that i've been underwhelmed by what i've seen in New York so far. But i haven't really gotten out and experienced much of a scene yet i guess. I don't really know much about scenes. If a scene is a musical community, then i'd be really interested being part of one. But i kinda just associate the term "scene" with a bunch of musicians or artists who all sound alike in some way or another. -_-
do you go to shows often?

i always write you when i get home from work. It clears my mind. Though i really need to find constructive things to do in the late hours of the night before i go to bed. I feel really unproductive spending so many hours a week at the computer.

You know on the Kit Kat bar it has the name Kit Kat imprinted on the front it. That robs you of chocolate! I'm gonna go and knock on the door at the Kit-Kat factory and say "Excuse me, but you owe me some letters"

Fish are always eating other fish. If fish could scream, the ocean would be loud as shit. You would not want to submerge your head in there... Nothing but a bunch of fish going "AHhhh shit! I thought I looked like that rock!"

So........... Ive finally recovered from last weekends events. I must be getting old tongue

It was really amazing to see all my buds again. It gets really difficult being down here by myself with the only person I really know is my ex boyfriend because we moved here together. Theres a few friends from uni but it's just not the same. But anyway, weekend was great....

burble. do you Kiwis celebrate Halloween? I surprised to find out from a friend of mine, another bloke from the UK, that they don't do the whole big deal about it over there. Not that i'm a huge fan of partying and wearing a costume and all that, but i do love to see the people out on the streets in crazy costume. I spent last Halloween in the city looking for apartments, observing the masses of fascinating (and oftentimes sexy) people in costume wandering through the streets. At the cafe, we've been putting plastic spiders on people's drinks and selling cake with marshmallow eyeballs on it. surreal

WARNING: I write really long comments.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

its ok that you feel like a neanderthal. i used to use a real old nokia for the longest time and i'd go in to work and they'd be like "Dan, why'd you bring your house phone to work??" I have a Razr now, but i don't even like it. on top of that, i'd tell people i don't own a television and they were like "fuckin dan is living in the stone ages!" i swear, it was funnier if you were there. My friend Meyers from work was the phoniest dude ever!

richie is my boss from the club. the guy who's like my role model. He was in Japan for a week meeting his fiance's parents and some other dude filled in for him. long story short, i'm glad he's back. The other guy was uh. a bit nuts. not that he wasn't a cool guy, but i find it hard to take someone seriously when they're doing acid in front of me while we're working

as for the cafe. i do like it. Not as much as i used to, or as much as working at the cafe back home in Pennsylvania. people in New York are not nearly as social. They just don't have time to stop and get to know you. But overall i do still enjoy working there, because the owners are among my best friends in New York, along with some of the other employees as well. I think the key thing is that it's not just any old restaurant or coffee shop. It's a coffee shop that I know and love, and it's an environment that attracts like-minded people. So i've met some cool people and musicians through being there. It's good times

save up for california. don't suppose you wanna go next summer do you? it doesn't seem totally impossible, which got me kinda hyped up about the whole thing. :-X i better not jinx it!

on this side of the globe it is getting steadily colder and windier. And the heat is on everywhere you go. So you have to dress super warm, but then you get inside and you sweat. And it's a pain in the ass to take a thick winter jacket on and off whenever you get to a train. Especially a crowded train. So in summary, it is getting shittier here, because i hate winter. biggrin The foreboding election doesn't brighten my spirits either. A lot of people i know have talked about leaving the country if McCain gets elected. I don't blame them and i might consider it myself. Know much of anything about the candidates?

philosophocles:
no, i don't ride a horse and cart to work!

...

i ride a mule. His name is Gustov. and he's a very good mule. So tongue on you!

that much coffee cannot be good for you. i mean i used to drink lattes like there was no tomorrow. i've had an 8-shot latte before... which is like 80% espresso, 20% milk. i don't remember if it was good or not. it probably had a LOT of sugar syrup in it. Doesn't all that coffee mess you up in the head? that's probably worse than being drunk! i've had a couple drinks at work and it's usually chill... but i don't get drunk if Richie's around. With Ben, the other dude, i was getting buzzed or drunk every night. That's why it was too crazy with him around. robot

when do you finish school? is it one year? if so, i can wait. it'd give me more time to save. Maybe McCain will get elected and i'll move to New Zealand after all. The beauty of liberal California will probably wither and die if he's our president anyway. He'll round up all the gay people and ship them to another country or some bullshit. fucking assholes... Is it hard to get citizenship in NZ? Or is it one of those countries that's just like "Come on down! We have jobs!" ?

I just spent the last um hour and a half listening to music with my roomy and loading up his computer with music from MY music library. He is like the coolest fucking dude ever. And he might be moving out! which makes me so scared and sad. But i met a girl today who's also a singer and she came over and ended up that she may sublet space in his room from him, cuz he has like a secondary room connected to his that he doesn't use.
But yes. I loaded up his computer with music and was amazed to find he likes ALL of my favorite music. It's kinda crazy how that works. Oh. And he says you're hot (in a british accent of course. hoht. like.. you know how it'd sound.)
oh. can i get your address to try and mail you something?? or should i wait til you move to Auckland.
Are you sure Auckland is a real place? that is SO a made up name. Admit it. Just like English English. Just a myth i tell you!

in order to get a ticket to NZ i'd have to sell like all my guitars. that'd be a sad moment. I might do it eventually. But i KNOW if i had 1300 bux in the bank, i'd immediately buy some music-related piece of equipment. So it's an endless cycle.
um. come to California. I will totally fly there to meet you. I'm dying to drive across California. From the south end all the way north and onwards to Seattle and the like. You should do that with me. It could be fun. We'd probably get drunk a lot. I'll admit, i rather like getting drunk... I never thought i'd say that in a million years. I just don't wanna be a boozehound.

and yeah. i have a weird thing with always looking at the clock at a specific time. For years it was 9:11. Though it never occurred to me to associate it with the date. so it's nothing morbid like that. or maybe it wasn't 9:11. maybe it was 9:41. i don't know. that was like 5 years ago. Why do you ask me such ridiculous questions!?
*storms out*
philosophocles:
i apologize for that tantrum. it WAS 2:30 in the morning. i don't think straight under those circumstances
I WANNA mail something to you. it's fun. i've never had somebody who actually liked the idea. If people were a little less paranoid, i'd mail shit to people i meet online all the time. I have to think of something more creative, but it'll be good. I promise

everyone i talk to says driving across california on Highway 1 is like the best experience ever. It's beautiful and you get to visit so many major cities. And you visit WINE country. Which i'm sure you'd be excited about. puke I'd just pack a guitar and some clothes and rent a car. Oh. and a camera Do you prefer spring, summer, or fall? I'm definitely not going to California in Winter! Spring is my favorite season. Lotsa sunlight and flowers and breezy weather.

cross your fingers that the girl we met yesterday decides to sublet the space from my roommate. She seems really cool and then he wouldn't have to leave. His name is Robbin. I call him "The Brave, Brave Sir Robbin". Watch Monty Python's "Search For the Holy Grail" if you don't get my reference.

Friday Highday! I've got a glass of wine beside me and I'm sitting in the sun because I got to speak to the adschool again and she said my interview will be next Thursday on Skype, but I've already got it in the bag because my application was so strong! So I've booked a moving truck and I just have to save the money for...

you don't look very retarded in your retarded face pictures. you just look like you got some sun. and you felt like smirking. first to the right. then to the left.
again, i am super jealous of your springtime weather. It's just starting to get chilly out and the days are getting shorter. Come day-light savings change, it will all be very depressing. Short days = sad times
do you like taking a lot of pictures? it's been forever since i really did that, but i've been taking a ton of pictures on my camera phone lately. and my boss's camera at work. but yeah, you should take pictures of springtime things to remind me of how nice it is and all that. i wish i had a nice warm sunbeam to sit in with my cat
what's your favorite type of beer?

So I called up the Adschool to see if they got my task sheet stuff that I had to do ok. The woman put me through to someone and she knew exactly who I was and said my application was "amazing and it was a really good one" shocked I rushed the hell out of that application.

So now they want to talk to me on...

i must confess i am terribly shy about phone conversations. I feel like i have nothing to say and get all awkward. but if you want, i can give you my number. even if it is just for a voicemail.
what's the NZ accent like? is it much like the Australians' or is it really different? i don't think i've ever met someone from New Zealand before. i've met people from just about everywhere else these last few weeks, but not there. I'm sure your voice is lovely. maybe you could sing me a song.

so do you sell your baked goods or do you just do it as a hobby? I'm gonna make some brownies this weekend if i get the chance. The awesome thing about brownies is that the best ones usually are super basic. And if you add a little bit of instant coffee to them it tastes amazing, yet subtle.

your sister looks absolutely THRILLED.
and hey! my birthday was friday! and i turned 21! maybe me and your sister are soulmates or something
or maybe we were just born around the same time... cuz everybody gets knocked up on new year's. frown

and yes. the end of Fight Club was amazing. and there IS a part of me that wants to blow shit up sometimes.. Though unfortunately i know the powers-that-be would find some way to spin that and use it against the people who are fighting for good. I honestly think the public is way more manipulated and controlled than almost anyone gives credit for. Blechhhh
but that said, i do hope something crazy starts to happy in the next year. i wonder what the liberal backlash would be if McCain got elected.
