this post is not at all meant to make fun of anyone's misfortune, it's not really about that at all.
it's about how my sick sense of humor (because i made no effort to correct this misinterpretation at all) and my normal way of talking to a co-worker has made several of our brand-spanking-new work study students think i am a ridiculously heartless girlfriend. (and i'm not even anyone's girlfriend. )
this is the overheard conversation...
him-"well, what are you doing here? you should be there."
me- "don't think i didn't consider it, but it's Augusta."
him- "yeah, why Augusta?. i was wondering"
me- "it's supposed to be the best burn center in the state. plus it's closer to the scene of the accident. i hate Augusta, it's so boring. "
him- "Cat, he's got severe burns over like half of his body, he's not worrying about the social possibilities."
me- "i know, but's it's so boring there."
him "if you really loved him you would be there, even if it was Augusta."
me "hopefully, he will survive, even if i don't go visit him."
