A heavy police presence was felt at the 80th Academy Awards in Hollywood. Crowds packed against barricades hoping to see the stars as they got out of their cars at the red carpet a half a block down Hollywood Blvd from the Kodak Theater. Hollywood Blvd was closed off to street traffic for blocks in every direction. Bicycle officers, emergency personnel, and even SWAT team officers were present.
