okie dokie, big news. i went to blaine to pick up my new lens (which had a sigma mount, so i had to send it back), and on the way back through customs, i went in and talked to the immigration guy. he told me about a thing called a "post graduation workers agreement" which states:

"a foreign student can get a one year work permit to work in canada provided he/she can show proof of graduation and proof of a full time job relating to his/her education. and he/she must present such articles between their time of graduation and the time when their study visa expires"

this means that between when i graduate (dec15) and when my visa is up (dec31), if i get a paper showing i graduated (not a problem) and get a job relating to my education (much harder to do), then i can stay here for an extra year and work.

why is this different than just getting a regular work permit? because normally i would get a possible job lined up, the company hiring me would have to tell human resources department of canada (hrdc), and they would put the word out that that job is up for grabs. if no canadians take it, then i can have it. since it was pretty much guarenteed that anything i could do a canadian could also do, i couldnt really get a job. since this post grad work program doesnt require hrdc participation, then i can get any job i want.

also, since i took both film production and "foundation visual art and design", which included editing, writing, graphic design, retouching, photography, motion graphics, life drawing, and a whole bunch of other shit, jobs relating to my education are quite a wide range of things.

so now im on a mission to get a job. anyone know of any openeings? or good places to look?

i need to call immigration and see if i can get a non paying job, cause if i can, any of my friends with small design companies can hire me, just so i can be here. then i will have more time to find a full time paying job.

holy moly im excited. especially since after that year of work i could be up for landed immigration, so i could stay here forever and ever.
