An open note. If you are a programmer or designer who creates humorous Flash movies, games, optical illusions, concetration tests or anything else that else that ends abruptly with a shrieking deformed head that looks like something out of The Exorcist: FUCKING CUT IT OUTNOW! IT'S NOT FUNNY ANYMORE! It got played out a long time ago! It's the internet equivalent of a Monica...

Sickness is all around me

Sunday night, after a week of cooling my heels out in the suburbs, Mom made lasagna for dinner as a thank-you for tending the house and dog. I snarfed down a double helping. Well, to make a long story short, I wound up with food poisoning. Or maybe it was a flu bug. All I know...

Yeah, having the flu or food poisoning sucks. I usually never get sick, so a few years back when I ended up with food poisoning (still not positive if this was the case, might have been a flu bug), it was pure hell for a good day or two. I remember one night where I literally could not sleep because my stomach hurt so bad. I couldn't even keep a small amout of water down, it was horrible. Luckily I have a pretty decent immune system, so rarey do I get that sick. Coincidently, I think i'm might be coming down with a minor cold. Hopefully it doesn't develop into anything. wink

Like Lee Harvey Oswald said, "I'm just a patsy"

I clicked on a link a few minutes ago that led me to video from this morning's press conference from the President. I only saw the first ninety seconds or so, just enough to catch some light banter with the press corps before fielding yet another painful question about accountability. In that...

Thanks! The trip was incredible. I hope to post some pics really soon. It was some much needed destressing.

As far as Bush is concerned, I pity most the people in this country for being duped in all of the most obvious ways more than him. Being the fall guy in his case may make half of America hate him, but he'll still have plenty of undeserved money and power for the rest of his life. But I certainly do not disagree with you in any way either.

A Quick Question for Everyone:
When I moved into this condo of mine, many years ago, I bought myself a second-hand credenza from some crappy antique store way up north on Lincoln Avenue. Now the thing is not exactly a show piece but it's presentable, actually quite nice considering how cheaply made it is. It's got big cardboard panels that are supposed to make it...

you are correct....they are using reals now. if you look through the history of brazilian money you'll see they changed the name of their currency about 10 times in the past 75 years.

Not sure if they have a fat composition tester there... I now UIC has a sports center that I can use to get tested on certain things...

I'm well aware it's not about how much I weigh, but 200 pounds is my target weight just because I know I have at least 5-10 pounds of fat that is extraneous and needs to go.

Does History Repeat Itself?

The sports chatter around these parts has been in a frenzy after Sunday night's Bears game. The local news, national news outlets like ESPN.com, and even the GridIron group here on SG are all hot with talk about the Bears. In the midst of all this, just a few days ago I found a series of videos...

Consolidating My Political Power

A curious thing has occurred over the last few days. After about two years of relentless isolation, I've started renewing contact with some friends I haven't heard from or talked to in years. The four-year-old son of a good friend has a habit of getting Dad's cellphone and hitting speeddial. He left a charming message on my answering machine over the...

Dangerous Curves

I could go on, but these are the ones that came to mind

I really love "Morning Glory" too. That scene (I think it's near the beginning) where she's at some diner, looking really sad, it just gets to me. It's really hard not to fall in love with Hepburn in that role. Have you seen the Susan Strasberg remake? It's titled "Stage Struck." It's pretty good too. smile

The Downward Spiral -- Part 2

So this afternoon I emerged from a three-day bender. The long weekend sort of screwed me up a little in terms of getting back to my healthy patterns of food and exercise. But I'm not gonna try to kid myself, that was just like an crazy, out-of-nowhere binge. It was only with intense concentration that...

The Downward Spiral

Entropy. That has become the defining element of my life. As recently as June, I was hardcore into the whole health and fitness thing, not just working out at the gym but my 'intake' as well. I counted every calorie, took supplements, and even pursued prescriptions to get the most out of my body. When the health insurance...

yeah, you are dead-on about tv. baked or sober, if you do much channel surfing you'll see some crazy stuff. what about those spanish language channels? those odd game shows. You mentioning 70's Scifi and soap operas got me thinking of that old show Dark Shadows. I think it was from the sixites, but it qualified as both Science Fiction and Soap Opera. Very weird and very atmospheric. Talking about cable access reminds me that they used to show weird Karoake on local tv where I used to live. It was the oddest thing, they would have people sing karoake in front of blue screens with famous locales from around town (I lived in Napa, California at the time) on them. it was funny, but it just struck me as odd. biggrin

The Sun Shines Brighter, The Air Smells Sweeter During College Football Season

I try to be upbeat as often as possible when I have some words to share. And few things bring a smile to my face as the beginning of fall. I'm mad for the changing of the leaves and grateful for cooler weather after the dog days of August...

*cheer* for college football, I fucking love it. As I told you at the BBQ I am a big NU fan, but also a closet Michigan fan (had a girlfriend at Mich Law way back when and went to every home game for two years). In addition, growing up in FLA, I root for the Gators as well (and hence hate FSU & Miami). Only 2 days til it all begins. smile
lancelac:
LOL, nice video. I swear to god that my mom used to sing that song to me when I was a baby... tongue

Catch any of the NU opener on Thursday? The Defense looked pretty impressive, although I don't know if Miami is the yardage machine they were a few years back. The offense seemed pretty weak, all run, no pass. At least they won!
