You lose some along the way

That's a phrase that I've used to comfort myself for quite sometime now: it goes a long way to explaining the loss of connection I've suffered with people who were either held dearly or or who were relatively unimportant but have since become someone wholly different in the intervening passage of time. Those relationships were just not meant to...

Return to Normalcy

Actually I've been back in the city for almost a week but only now are my schedule and daily patterns getting back to comfortable rut I was in before those twelve harrowing days in the suburbs.

First of all, I should be taking fuller advantage of the spectacular weather we've had and gotten out to the beach or...

So later today I have to put myself on full media shutdown until Monday evening. No TV, no radio, no internet. 'Cause if I don't, somebody will spoil the Sopranos for me before I get a chance to watch it. Anybody with HBO mind if I come over to watch tonight?
apexxx:
never seen Sopranos, so i can guarantee that i wont spoil the ending for ya tongue

Understimulated

As part of my ongoing fitness conciousness, I recent made my strongest ever efforts to abstain from alcohol. This is quite a challenge for me because I simply love drinking. It's one of my favorite things to do in this world. But I thought it was time for mind over matter to get the full benefit of all that time...

You have to count your blessings in life, and right now I feel blessed that the drunk guy in my car on the blue line el didn't start throwing up until right before my stop.

Had a great time with everyone at Piece tonight!

The Demon Rum

I've been quite successful at kicking my own ass to stick with the whole fitness regimen the last two weeks. I hadn't touched a drop of alcohol since two weeks ago Sunday, the morning after the Mayweather-De La Hoya fight. Since then I've focused on workouts and nothing but.

This weekend was gonna be the proving grounds: Apexxx...

i love that Tony Soprano quote. fucking awesome. but there is something to be said for sharing stories from the past, as long as you don't get stuck there...

if you ever hear something you like and want ideas to keep heading in that direction, i'd be glad to play the part of introducing you to some good metal - be it old school or new.

and good for you on the fitness and alcohol regimen. i need to do something similar with my life - i especially know how the 'one drink turns into seven' sort of thing goes... tongue

So I'm on the hook to create a CD with 12 songs of my choice for the CD exchange party on Friday. I could have begged off last week but I wanted to force myself to contribute. And now I've got a 'theme' for my disc, but not all twelve songs to fill it out. I'm up to seven, which constitutes progress from yesterday, but...

At least they have some strong playoff experience now. They just need to play 100% all the time now.

1:16 PM 11th pick overall now on the clock

If the Bears wind up drafting Brady Quinn and don't trade him, keep him to be the QB of the future, I'm going to Halas Hall and taking hostages.

I can't believe how late Quinn got drafted. Now he's probably got a chip on his shoulder the size of a mountain, and he'll target every team that didn't draft him. He'll probably be a pretty good QB too.

I'm ok that my Raiders picked the LSU kid. Now I hope to god that he's not a bust (which is quite possible, i think) and won't absolutely get killed because of his shitty o-line. I think Andrew Walters is buried somewhere in the Oakland Coliseum. I don't think he survived last year. wink

As far as Cuban conspiracy theories (with that wording, I feel like i'm talking about the whole JFK/CIA), I can't wait to here them. I want to know how David Stern rigged the game so that the Mavericks played with no heart, and Dirk couldn't lead his team through adversity. Must be a pretty talented guy, if he could pull that off. biggrin
trocc:
glad we dodged that bullet. (the you taking hostages one, i don't know shit about Brady Quinn and why we don't want him) wink

"I Coulda Had Class. I Coulda Been Somebody."

So I went to my good friend Trey's wedding yesterday. It was a nice ceremony in an absolutely stunning venue (with a big assist from the weather) but I could not help but be depressed. Maybe it was because I didn't really know anyone there. Maybe it was because they're moving away...

maybe when the sun comes out on a more regular basis, itll help us all out a little bit in combating depression...

Gayle Sayers day makes me start wondering, when is Payton day? Ditka day? Halas day? Jordan day?, etc, etc
kinto:
That was a great journal entry - although bittersweet.

Life is so weird. Looking at my past, there was a time when, for years, I called myself the "uneven number"... because every time I was going out with friends to restaurants or things like that, I would be the only single one. That was depressing as fuck.

And now that I've finally managed to be again with someone for more than a week, it feels like it isn't really me sometimes... Human beings always want everything and its contrary at the same time.

Keep those positive vibes going, they will bring more happiness before you realize it smile

I'm now convinced that the most profound philosophical statement of the Twentieth Century was Roseanne Roseannadanna's "It's always something". But when that 'something' involves my computer, how come it always seems to be a result of Microsoft products? Christ, I just want to answer my emails and be done with it.....

I've seen that movie so many times (not to mention the Sinatra remake), that all the names of the characters are pretty much stuck in my head. Macaulay Conner doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

Aw fuck, not again. Why can't you dumbfucks leave well enough alone? You know when they did this the last time? I can because I did a long, bitchy rant about it at the time.

That doesn't bug me as much as how slow the site has been lately. I couldn't check in for several hours earlier. If it weren't for the good people I've...
