Yeee-haw....I got two tests back today. I got a 92% on my Art History test. Not too terribly bad.
I got an 87% on my Geography test. Out-fucking-standing when you take into consideration the fact that the class average was an abysmal 68%!!!!!!!! I felt bad actually. It was out of 70 points and I got a 61. When we were in lab we were talking about how we did; I answered first and said 61. Then they reported scores ranging from the high 50's to mid 60's......they were talking percentages. I didn't correct myself and tell them my percentage. They are so fucking lucky for having me around though. We've had 5 labs now and our lowest score has been 17/20, and I am taking all the fucking credit, dammit.
On the bright side.....I did tell the cute girl that I would help her on the extra credit assignment if she needs it......which she'll fucking need.
On another note....I have to learn to check my combativeness on occasion. I almost went into full-rant mode in my Lit class this morning. We read An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen. The teacher said that Thomas and Peter Stockman both want to be superior. I raised my hand and said that I think everyone wants to be superior even if it is only a superiority over what they themselves have been in the past. The vocal portion of the class disagreed with me. I bit my tongue in time to not say the words "elan vital" and start blathering about Bergsonian evolutionary theory....granted, it would have been fun to teach these people about Henri, but it just wasn't the time and place. If only I could have stopped myself sooner.
Oh, and I had to edit this to say......I FUCKING LOVE VOLTAIRE!!!!!!! I started reading a collection of some of his shorter pieces of fiction. He so fucking rocks. When I don't read him for awhile, I forget just how brilliant that man was. Anyone want to buy his complete works for me?
It would only cost ya four or five hundred dollars. I am worried though because we are reading Candide for my Lit class next week. I know my teacher (who, by the way is the spitting image of Al Czervik) will butcher it. I also know that I am destined at some point to discuss the underlying anti-Leibniz theme of the book. I doubt my teacher even knows who G.W. is.
