Actually I'm not going to this to party. I'm actually going as a DanceSafe volunteer. Yup- being an old skool party kid I do whatever I can to help educate and reduce harm in the electronic music community. Tonight should be fun since we are training two new volunteers. They seem young but they have so much energy and enthusiasm you can't help but be in awe. Life hasn't crushed their spirits yet.
Argument time:
My major contribution to harm reduction was designing and manufacturing the DanceSafe Seattle mini-ecstacy testing kits. I never really minded the controversy surrounding pill testing. In fact harm reduction is something I feel strongly enough about that I am willing to go to jail over it.
But there are certainly people who feel differently...
Do you think pill testing should be legal or illegal? Do you think it encourages people to do drugs? Do you think it gives people a false sense of security?

In Holland, they not only sell testing kits and there are a couple of people that you can call who will test for you, but there is a government agency that will test no questions asked. I think all the chemical shit is really bad, but people are going to do it regardless (I mean,duh, could it be more illegal?) and at least it is a responsible approach to making sure no one dies or is scarred for life.
but yes, i do believe in pill testing. there is so much of the "bad" ingredients out there, and you never know what you're taking unless you have it checked out first. we used to look everything we got up on the internet first, and test it. fortuneately, we never came across anything bad, but people should always be cautious. that's very cool of you to volunteer!
