Common Courtesy:
So I took notice today of something I normally take for granted, and it brightened my day in light of my recent problems. Motorcycle riders wave to each other when they pass on the road- just an unwritten rule in that long forgotten realm of common courtesy. There is something so satisfying in that little gesture- a small familiarity amongst complete strangers.
Normally we spend way to much of our time trying to ignore others. Even with people you know, how many people greet each other with a hug or a kiss? I'm all about the hug when I meet someone. I try to show other people my best, take them for their best, and hope that it's reciprocated.
Actually what I miss is the european kiss hello. It's even better than a hug- since in the nuances of that kiss hello you can say so many things. I'm trying to make it a habit with a few of my female friends, who are for the most part receptive. Ideally tho- I'd like to see the behaviour spread to everyone. Reach out to people and don't be afraid of affection. If I can wave to every stranger on a motorcycle, then it shouldn't be that much more difficult to hug and kiss your friends.
Ok- I should get offline and go see the SGSeattle crowd at the Capitol Club. But better yet- Expansions is Live on the air @ Liquid Lounge in the EMP from 9-11pm. If I wasn't so damn hungover there is some amazing shit happening in Seattle tonight...
