Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard. Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.
- Mistakenly attributed to Kurt Vonnegut but really by Mary Schmich

Scratch Northern California and replace with Pacific Northwest- Portland and Seattle are no better to tell you the truth.

I seriously think Seattle is making me soft. Let me explain- it's not so much the soft part as vegetarian. *gasp* I actually really do like meat and have no moral or ethical problems with eating it. In fact I have few morals and ethics to begin with and those I do have deal with friendship and love. I make no compunctions about the harsh realities of life- I simply accept them as they are.

Of course I am extremely respectful of those whose beliefs differ from mine. I don't preach meat eating and as long as they don't preach vegetarianism, we get along just fine. But somehow after living in Seattle for two years I have accumulated a ton of vegetarian friends. All the girls I seem to date lately have been vegetarian. So of course loving to cook and being a good host, I have no problems cooking vegetarian and have actually become quite good at it.

So this morning it came as a surprise to me that in a week, I haven't had any meat. This coming from a guy like Katie, who sometimes just needs bacon...lots of bacon. Seattle is seriously making me soft.

Oh well...For better or worse, it just is...

Now if only the weather would go back to that sunny and warm shit it teased us with over the weekend. Seattle is like Minneapolis in the respect that if you don't like the weather, just wait and hour.
