Holidays and Routines Don’t Vibe Well Together

Normally I’d be writing late in the evening, but this weekend has my timing all fucked up. With the holiday coming up, this whole week has been thrown off with changing schedules and holiday shopping. For the past couple of months, my partner and I have enjoyed a pretty steady workout schedule: heavy squats on Tuesdays, heavy deadlifts on Fridays, functional movement training on Wednesdays, and running and yoga everywhere else. Her schedule’s changing weekly now, however, and so we’ve been struggling to figure out timing that works for our training. I work remote running my own business, with the exception of two in-person yoga classes I teach, so I have much more flexibility, which is nice. Still, even with online classes and clients, coordination can become a challenge and this was one such week.

I teach yoga at a brewery on Saturday mornings, and I ran with the theme “A Very Merry Metal Holiday,” which—you guessed it—was a class set to a playlist filled with metal. It was fucking awesome. I had so much fun creating the playlist—here, on Apple Music, if you want to check it out—and was stoked to lead the class. When I run themed classes like this, I’ll take extra time to create the marketing content and promote it a little more than usual, so this also contributed to the timing shift this week as I worked to design and post all the content and create the playlist.

To top it all off, I made the brilliant decision to join a logo design challenge this week, because of course I did; why wouldn’t I when I have 50 billion other things I’m working on? It’s just one more thing, really, and it only runs for 50 days. I can totally do it and still do all the other 50 billion things just fine! It’s no big deal. Not a problem at all. If need be, I can just bump any total meltdowns to occur once the challenge is done, right? Totally.

I feel like there’s something else that’s—oh! I also started playing Resident Evil 4, and holy fuck it’s been a long time since I’ve played a horror game. I fucking LOVE watching horror films, no matter their level of quality. But damn, playing a game that’s horror-oriented, when it’s well done? Completely different experience. I got frustrated almost right away and had to turn the difficulty setting all the way down like a little bitch.

Anyway, here’s a poster of @slayhil from her set Envy. I continue to play with layers and elements, colors and blending modes.
