What’s On My Mind?

I love that prompt when you first open the writing modal: “what’s on your mind?”

Turns out, a lot of nonsense is on my mind. And a lot of concern. A lot of juggling projects and concepts. A lot of iterating over past conversations and interactions, and then iterating over them again and again. A lot of wondering how I’ll spend my downtime or what I want to write about today.

See? A whole lot of nonsense.

Though, that last one is an interesting consideration. There is no theme here. There’s no agenda. There’s no outline. I want to get back in the habit of writing regularly, and I don’t want to have to think about it too much. I just want to sit down and write, and may the blank page, along with all judgements that are unleashed by any who deigns to read what goes onto it, be damned.

Though, the thought regarding what I’m going to write about still crosses my mind when I consider that I have to write.

Tonight, particularly, in addition to considering what I would write about, I considered why I’m writing HERE, on suicidegirls.com. I could blog anywhere. Wordpress, tumblr, Wattpad, Medium, and many many others offer platforms for writing that some would consider more appropriate. The problem is that all of that is boring.

Wordpress is sterile. tumblr is chaotic, but not in a fun, burn the place down, kind of way; it’s just hella judgy. And while lots of places are hella judgy—hi twitter—tumblr’s the only place I know that relies on judgy-ness to stay afloat. Wattpad is for stories and I don’t have those. Medium is more sterile than Wordpress. I could build a site and blog there but that’s a whole lot of work I don’t want to do just to spew some random bullshit into it. And fuck the idea that any place is more appropriate than any other when it comes to writing for the sake of writing.

If you can’t share it on a platform that celebrates alternative models, maybe you shouldn’t be sharing it, no matter what platform you choose.

Also, I’m curious as to the shock factor when I share my work and my friends are brought to my page on this site. That thought alone makes me giggle a little bit.

What’s on my mind? A whole lot of nonsense.
