Probably because this confirms my opinion that there is no god and that what has just occured in America over the last 24 hours is a sick joke of fate. Fucking wanker.

Actually i'm laughing because i juast watched 'The Power of Nightmares' on BBC2 and its conclusion being that the whole 'Global Terror' thing is just a giant and very stupid load of shite and macguffin which basically concludes that.
1) Islamic revolution by popular means was dead by 1998. Massive terror attacks were born of desperation NOT strength. There is no world terror network beyond a number of individuals 'inspired' by massive terror attacks.
2) Al Quaeda was invented, not by bin Laden, but by an American lawyer in order to convict the suspected Nairobi bombers under the same 'criminal group' laws that act against the mafia. Bin Laden only used the group name after 9/11, proving once and for all that 'any publicity is good publicity'.
3) 9/11 was a means of grabbing attention and impressing disninterested moslems in the power of a then marginal and largely ignored by most radical moslem faction, such as the one supposedly led by bin Laden. Most of the 'evidence' gleaned for a top Al Quaeda official was in fact scaremongering with the aim of building up the non existent groups public image. Most of his ideas came from Hollywood disaster movies.
4) The war on terror has been seized/invented by both radical moslems and neo-conservatives in order for them to grow in stature. For Neo-con's the war is a means to carry out their myth of placing America in a place of heroism in the world
5) Sleeper cells are a myth. So are dirty bombs and Tora Bora. All convictions for aiding and abetting terrorism have been overturned in court.
6) The true legacy is that which uses the principle that says that we must prepare for the worst, so, in the name of decreased civil liberties politicians increase their power by being the most imaginative in creating, or imagining horrific prophesies that we MUST perpare for. The catch-22 being that we cannot NOT prepare for them now that we are caught in this.

when it comes to bush though, all i say is 'better the devil you know than the devil you don't'.
I think they over stated their case. All terrorism comes from weakness. 9/11 happened - you can't explain away two jumbo jets crashing into buildings. Bin laden acts as a motivating figure, perhaps as a money man. he is not the CEO of an organisation but never the less exerts influence.
to sum up my feelings. The threat is useful for nasty people in the west to get even nastier but there is a threat
