What an amazing 'nothing' weekend. Me and October just lounged around for most of Saturday and Sunday. It was great we hadn't seen each other properly since the end of August. Actually i did my 'bitch' thing and tidied her flat for her, went shopping and had to watch as she proceeded not to buy any of the things that she intended to buy while i got a new hat and a couple of fascinating books to join my large pile of 'in progress' tomes.

Life is sweet and cosy at the moment, a situation that immediately makes me want to scream and try to find a more interesting job or a decent hobby of sorts, but alas, i am but a hopeless theorist, not an activist, i can 'think' about doing something and come to the conclusion that, hey, why bother acting when i can convince myself of reasons why i shouldn't mad mad mad

On a similar note, i'm reading a cultural studies book on the Simpsons called 'Planet Simpson' which really outlines the subtle genius of 'the most important tv programme ever'. In the chapter on Homer, explaining the reasons why he's so dumb, boorish and ignorant, the author writes that

"Homer's life is successfulbecause he's so dumb. Anyone with too much smarts, too much responsibility , too great a propensity for asking difficult questions , will be hopelessly frustrated by modern American living."

Hmmm, i think i'm starting to see my problem.

All the same. biggrin

(oooh, doughnuts! love )

If you're enjoying that book I highly suggest you pick up The D'oh! Of Homer.

I would agree that The Simpsons is the most important television program.

Look on the bright side, the touring season should be kicking off again any time now - if Bristol's anything like Leeds I'm sure there'll be plenty of good gigs to go to! smile
